I should agree with you, because that's how I started. Arrived in an unsealed class with massive differences in engines. Found out why and was able to build consistantly quick engines. Before long I was building engines for virtually the whole club and then for most of the National grid. Lap times went from being several seconds apart through the grid down to only a few tenths. But the karting business and federation hated that so much they changed the rules, sealed the engines and gave sealing agencies to virtually everyone except me.
Point is the karting business doesn't want equal equipment, they want to be able to 'sell' speed to the rich parents. Make the engines equal and they make less money.
