Hi,

I have a question from a dad that has been involved with gokarts since 1985 and that has helped us a lot with advice and wrenching.

His son is 15, experienced, but short and only 42 kilograms in a 120KG-minimum class with no clutch, no gear and about 15 horsepower.

The problem is that they have too much grip, which slows the kart down after a number of laps. One theory is that there is a lot of dead weight (driver is only 1/3 of the total weight) and that he is too short to shift much weight around. His rear tires get so hot that they show some bubbles after a session. The wear of the rear tires suggest that the inner part takes the most punishment, and the dad is currently considering tuning for more wheel lift to utilize more of the rear tires during a corner, thus spreading the heat to the outer part as well and avoid overheating the inner part, getting more of a release.

Is this the way to go forward?
