A bit crap for a one-man-band with a remote starter like me, but beyond that I don't really see this as insurmountable.

Never been all that sure what people hope to achieve by revving the nuts off an un-loaded engine. If it starts and blips cleanly, you need to be on the track to know if it's working right beyond that. I've never enjoyed the sound of a stone-cold Comer 4-stroking away at max revs with the kart on the stand, but I hear it quite frequently. Do they really not clean up on the out lap if you don't do it?

Not picking on anyone specific. Very popular in club Formula Ford too, and annoys me just as much. Especially when they've quite obviously bent a valve, but seem to think loads of revs might clear the mis-fire. Motocrossers too. Yet the same engines used in enduro are just started and ridden away, because the rules are a dead engine start.
