Did anyone actually bother to read the original paper for the tender process released by the MSA? Yes the new IAME engines were slower at PF on Saturday practice but these were straight out of the box and brand new engines that need to loosen up and then be fiched. The MSA tender process very clearly stated that the new engine will be 0.5 seconds a lap slower than the current comer for the very valid reason that the new engine will get quicker with development once the engine builders / tuners have worked there magic on them. So it may appear that they are slower than the comers at this time but I bet by the beginning of next year the IAME will be a lot quicker once the tricks to find the best out of the engines and carbs as been found. It is nothing to do with wanting to slow cadets down as for slowing down the Hondas this is only to stop them being faster than the official British Cadet Championship engine.
