Yes I guess libra grids could be an issue but the MSA has always said they will be reviewing any restriction measures.

My point was that everyone seems hung-up about lap times. We've seen tons of negative posts along the lines of "the new engine is a dog, why should we buy a new engine that makes us slower" now people saying "hang on, it's not slower, I thought it was surposed to be" truth is it will probably be quicker on some tracks and slower on others because it has a very different power curve, just like Honda V's Comer times now.
I'm not at all interested in the relative lap times, between the classes (unless there does end up being a lot of libra grids) because what are you trying to compare it to, little johny and his dad with his £300 eBay Comer engine or team fusion's S1 winning, selected everything, engine? It's just an impossible comparison because there's more than a second spread there already, same with average V's excellent Honda engines!

I'm not a rich parent by any measure but I'm genuinely excited by the new engine, for £1000 I got a brand new engine, that out of the box was on par with good club comer engines. With a little more time and it's first service and fiche check it should be slightly better but the main thing is that all the evidence surgests that I've got as good an engine as anyone else, no matter how rich they are or what team they run with, at this stage, no one has an advantage.
I'm not deluding myself, the best teams will spend thousands learning how to get a little more from the carb's etc. but everything suggests the margins will be much closer than they were with the comer or Honda.
Despite how badly this was introduced the actual engine is a step forward and as long as the MSA do review things like the proposed restrictions to other engines I don't see a problem. Yes the comer will undoubtedly die away just like you don't see many s60's around now but the Honda is a very differnt beast and whilst some of its success is down to parents frustrations with the fical nature of the comer and its carb, some will always prefer the convenience of 4-stroke power, so it should still do OK irrespective of whether or not engines are slightly restricted.
