Tennis is a classic example of low cost capital investment verses significant cost in coaching and travel.

Further, have you read how many of our Olympians have declared themselves bankrupt? They may have represented their country but first and foremost they represent themselves and the cost in getting to the standard to be selected for any national level competition will be far more than most will ever realise. It remains that it is the true elite that can make a decent living from minority sport the rest scrap for a bit of fame every 4 years and notoriety in their local community for a short while and then have to live up to the reality that they need to get a real job!
