Hi
There is some great advice above which is well worth considering, and is probably the right way to go about things. Having competed in Bambinos for 18 months or so ourselves and been competitive my generic advice would be this:

Tyres
Run "intermediate tyres" (Worn wets) yes, even in the dry. They are a much softer compound and bite much better. SL3 (Cadet Slicks) are really tough to get working on a bambino kart, there just isn't the weight or lateral forces to generate the heat and thus the grip.

If you do run SL3 (slicks) run mega high pressures 30 - 34 psi. It sounds crazy but this is one of the only ways you will get any heat and grip out of them whilst they are on a bambino kart weighing only 60 kgs. (when your driver starts getting competitive and the track temp is high 30+ you might need to start to lower those slightly but probably not below 28 psi.) and if the track temp is below 12 degrees you'll have more chance of platting fog than getting SL3's working on a bambino.

Rear Track (This is the bit your interested in!)
Run as narrow as you can to start with. i.e before the right rear tyre touches the chain guard and see how you get on from there. It might look strange but dont worry about that if it works.

Please consider i've just tried to give you info that has worked for us in the past. Its no guarantee that it will work for you. To do it right follow the advice in the comprehensive posts above but if you want to try and "luck" into some base settings give it a try.

KEY POINT
When you find settings that work and that your driver likes DONT CHANGE THEM! You will find huge chunks of time in his/her ability to start with. MASSIVELY more time than you every would find with chassis setup and engine tuning.

Good Luck!
