If you want to try GPS you should look at Qstarz box, just stick it to the kart no cables Ł130 http://amzn.to/1byK1xI

But I agree with all the other points
1. Lots of seat time on the track with other drivers
2. My lad is now one of the fastest in Cadet and we use a standard setup with few changes. Don't keep changing the kart under him (i used to)
3. Invest in driver training

Cadets just need as much track time as possible at a few different tracks.
