Well my understanding of 'release' is the unloading , partially or fully, of the inside rear wheel when the kart is turning under power. Without release the two rear wheels would be 'fighting' each other as they need to rotate at different speeds but cannot due to the lack of a diff. If both rears had full rotational grip the kart could not turnat all. I have a vision in my mind of one ' Gary Prior' shifting his weight around in the seat to help unload the inside rear and then proceeding round the 180 + hairpin at Wombwell, inside rear hanging an inch off the ground , drive entirely through the outside rear. Release!
