Good lord! Russell and I agree!
1) The grease is the RIGHT lubricant! You cannot imagine that the manufacturers would put the WRONG stuff into them! They really ARE the experts, not the pit-lane-gossips!
2) WD40 is NOT and never HAS been a lubricant of any significance. Somewhere on this web site, we got a reply from an expert in lubricants who thought that we were joking when some people said they replaced bearing grease with WD40! It may lubricate door locks, window slides, general household stuff, etc.. It simply doesn't have the ability to work as bearing lubricant! You need to think quite what a 'loading' those wheel bearings suffer!
