I have always knocked them out using the extension bar from a socket set or similar, it can damage the old bearings but they are for the bin anyway!
To fit new ones, just carefully squeeze them into the rim on the stub axle using wheel spacers on each side and, using the wheel nut to apply the force.
Always worked for us!
