Sams and others points above regarding scrutineering is a are ones and also raises the point that most non-MSA tracks insurance will state that the karts, track and actual meeting must be run to MSA standards. Therefore running outside of those criteria could effect not only their insurance but your chances of claiming off of it if you have a serious accident. Plus the MSA do a lot of the insurance packages for Clubs anyway so presumably enjoy the power of bulk buying for their members at an advantageous price.
