I think it is misplaced then. I do see your argument - I really do and in some ways I agree with it. But I don't think it would be sensible to deliberately make motor sport less safe. F1 is the perfect example. If you removed the safety features from the cars and tracks - and just headed back to the way things were in the 70s then yes I am sure you would have less contact and perhaps less risk-taking. You would also have the same death rates they suffered in the 70s. Now karting is not as fast, not as extreme and the risk is far less - but taking safety features away just doesn't seem smart. However, I do see where you are coming from. But the world has moved on. Which is why I wear a seatbelt.
