Very fair post Chris. Unintended consequences must be thought through and ultimately Standing Starts will have to have clear rules and buy in from the MSA and engine manufactuers.

eg can a kart pass before the start line, is there tolerence if a kart in front has stalled or is moving very slowly. What if someone can modify the clutch in an apparently legal way which lights the rear wheels up giving a significant advantage. We needs rules for this.

I am for standing starts where karts move away in a similar fashion to a practice session start and the race is on. i.e a 10 or 15 lap race, not one that ends at the first corner.

Regarding comparing starts for karts to F1 or any type of racing car I don't see the relevence.

Lewis Hamilton wouldn't give a nano second thought to deliberately pushing another car into the first corner or using his side to lean on another car. The consequences are obvious. Nose or wing damage leading to instant elimination or a lengthy pit stop. With karts bumbers and now pods give protection so drivers do not drive in the more circumspect way F1 drivers have to.

If we can't eliminate the problems design evolution has created
