So 50 mm axles have now joined tyres, plugs,frames, pods,pistons, conrods, etc .etc . as short life consumables. Since these are safety related components the life expectancy should be specified by the manufacturers .The governing bodies would then need to introduce regs. to ensure that axles were not being used beyond their safe working life. Alternatively the axles should be redesigned to prevent the farcical situation described by RI at PFI above. Karts are running around with no problems with 30mm axles 25 years old!
