All very valid comments on this thread. Come to the next Fulbeck IKR sprint series March 14th / 15th, £50 for the whole weekend so no worries about cost of two days and for most if you travel a distance why go for a day when you can go for two. I like the idea of double headers in terms of race days. You can race in IKR with no licence (they do run novices at the back and move up into the grid depending on progress of the individual), a sound helmet but doesn't need to be MSA approved, a sensible race suit - mine is a £25 special - brand new and still level 2 but doesn't need to be, you still need gloves (mine £4 new from the kart show), also boots, Fulbeck run amb 160 transponders available at a sensible price on the used market or rent for £10, you can race literally anything at Fulbeck IKR, if there are enough of the same formula whatever they are they will run a race for them, if not they go into a formula of similar speed, I watched a cracking open junior final with the first 3 swapping places almost every lap - an x30, a junior rotax and a KF3 but on an old tony kart - the kf won it but only just! Also it was great when the F100's came to Fulbeck. If you want to run with the masses as a previous post noted there are £500 max's racing out there £1000 gets you on the trace with an OK outfit - your out there racing rather than sat there moaning that it's not proper racing or not 'good enough for you'.
The same analogy applies to an ex boss of mine - he was a snob! Basically unless he could afford to go on a £10K holiday where they would meet no 'plebs' as he put it - they wouldn't go on holiday. More fool him you would say. BUT he had a young son whom he hardly ever went on holiday with! A 7 / 8 year old doesn't care if they are in the Maldives or camping in skeggy - in fact they would probably prefer skeggy. So the poor lad hardly ever went on a family holiday then his parents split up and got divorced and never will!!

The same applies with karting - just get out there racing in whatever suits YOU and YOUR budget, putting perceptions & opinions / snobbery to one side.

Fulbeck are still trying to run MSA aswell and are hoping people will move ('graduate' or 'move up') to MSA from IKR, I'm sure some might once they find their OWN comfortable level.

Same principle as racing for buttons cadet schemes - some move to MSA.

Don't knock either - support either and accept each to their own.
