Ethan Hawkey was in second, went up the inside of Sam McConnell for first (from the top it looked like no contact was made but someone I know (who i respect and races) said they went into the corner connected nose to bumper and that may have caused the gap to open up for ethan to get up the inside) there was a bit of squeezing and 2nd/3rd got through and Sam was then in 3rd).

Sam came in and shook Ethans hand, if it was bad this wouldn't have happened. but we all accept a discussion should have been had to get the various opinions. and at worse (gaining an unfair advantage was the maximum penalty that would be given as there was nothing dangerous or unsafe between the drivers)

the steward was adamant he was getting excluded for the celebration though to the shock of everyone!!!

NO ONE watching thought it was an exclusion even Sam's Dad pleaded with the steward not to exclude Ethan. but the steward made it impossible for anything other than an exclusion to happen. As it was impossible to appeal. As Ethan did take two hands off the wheel and Ethan rightly admitted that fact (it was on camera after all!). A strong word would have been all that was needed!

All 3 drivers deserved to be on that podium. and if after reviewing the evidence a proper decission at worse should have been a place swap with sam and ethan if he was found guilty...(less than a month ago i saw Harry Thompson be fired out of first place at kartmasters in 2 classes!!)

what made it worse is that Sam also got excluded the next day, and had penalties even when he was driven over and rightly defended his position up to the line.

The Steward had forgot there was anything other than an exclusion!

The steward was a nob..... and enjoyed seeing the young lad crying.

As the mechanic/witness/team manager at the event I should know. so hope that gives the full story.
