The 4 Silver is about £260 in Argos at the moment. You shouldn't ever have to pay GoPros RRPs...

As far as i know, you can only get the footage off by taking out the microSD. I don't think it has a usb port.

For charging, you could get a battery block (one like this will charge a GoPro many times over:)

I would say that being able to connect wirelessly is a big help as you can watch the footage on a phone or ipad without messing around. Maybe the Hero+ is a good compromise?
