So we're back to the bad old days like with TKM and having to weld torsion bars in and disabling the input of a lap timer to make it 'compliant'.

It's a shame they can't get a grip on things from the off instead of leaving people hanging in mid air wondering whether to seek out old equipment or invest in new.

Nowt changes in karting, even when the equipment does.

Surely they must have realised that the transponder was capable of transmitting data ONLY when it was connected to an imputing device that had to be physically plugged in to the transponder.

Wirelessly transmitting data to the transponder and then transmitting wirelessly to a data receiver trackside would add enormously to the cost and possibly cause real problems with a bunch of karts all next to each other on the track and all transmitting data at once. The encoding/decoding would be very costly.

I have no doubt that the transponder is designed to seamlessly link in with the AMB160 method of lap pickup and is not transmitting a signal that is so strong it can be picked up yards before you ever reach the bloody start/finish line.

The problem you have is that there are no experts in the governing bodies only 'suits' and together with the good old pit lane rumour machine, everything nosedives and goes into free fall.

Bunsen Honeydew comes to mind.

Perhaps the plug on the end was a clue!

Did nobody think of nailing one of each onto a kart in the same position and looking at the lap times?

Would have given a fair indication of the transmitted signal seeing as the timing is so accurate.

Will, you have grasped the situation.
