I bought a kart cover but it was so badly made it fell apart after the first journey. We've now bought a box trailer because it is so much easier to load and unload. It's worth thinking about upgrading the trailer as the box ones really don't lose much value. There's a good second hand market for them. I bought mine from Tickner trailers. They do a 7x5 with a kart shelf, although I got a 6x4 ecobox as it's a cadet we're towing. They put a shelf in it for me for an extra 100 quid.
