If a scrutineer confiscates a part because they say that it is 'non compliant' and you don't agree, should it be bagged and sealed for checking correctly or just put in their toolbox for further examination at some unspecified date?

As the part is legally yours, can you insist it is eventually returned to you, regardless of the outcome of the examination?

Barrack room lawyers opinions welcomed :)
