I believe a lot of younger people use their smartphones more for texting and the internet than for calls so doubt if that is the answer.
Maybe it is more about the facility to easily add photos/videos on FB. The downside is that you get sales threads all mixed in with threads on various karting issues whereas with the forum posts tend to go in the various sections.
