Camera's would put a stop to it all, what is needed is someone with the cash to invest and someone who is willing to spend time setting everything up and controlling the whole operation for the whole day.

Ideally we want someone who needs camera and computer equipment for another sport/hobby/job/uni course etc that can set up say 10 camera's dotted around the circuit and look after them and record the footage and be able to retrieve the footage when asked by the coc. They need to get paid for it and I would suggest it needs to be a mobile operation that can be taken to different circuits and set up quite quickly. Ideally all the equipment would be pre set up in a van and all that would then need to be done is arrange 10 wireless camera's dotted around the circuit in the incident hotspots.

By setting up an operation like this it means that the national events can hire the service at any venue around the country. They will also build up a good working relationship with the person who provides the service.

The national events would be a good starting place but any reasonably sized club should be able to afford something like this. I reckon a service like that would cost Ł300-400 per day. 100 competitors would equal Ł3 to Ł4 each on their race entry.

Another side line would be to have a high view camera screening live action of the race to a website so viewers can watch a race going on, this could also be connected to the live commentary. One bonus of this would be the potential to sell advertising space to companies in the karting business. This would not only advertise karting in general it would also be a good advertisement to any club where the camera system is in operation.

I think that camera's are the way to go. A slight push might be hard to decide whether or not it was deliberate but a blatant ram should be easily picked up on well positioned camera's.
