A recent thread highlighted concerns about number of first corner/lap accidents. Interested to hear opinions on whether non-gearbox karts should change to standing starts.

My own view is rolling starts are an exciting part of our sport and as long as it takes place at a sensible speed (20-25mph) it is probably the better/safer of the two.

However I am surprised that there are so called "driving experts" that say you should be pushing the kart in front as you approach the line. This is not even permitted in F1/F2 stock cars which are contact formulae so why is it encouraged in karting?
