I bought my daughter a Canon Eos 450D, and she's finding it easy to use and producing fantastic results with it. I spent some time looking into this, and a lot of time in the shop, discussing the relative merits of the Canon, Sony and Nikon digital SLRs. On balance the Canon was the best package -look round for deals (Jessops were doing the camera and standard Canon lens with a Ł50 cashback).
