In the early days of my son's karting in the late 1990's, while testing down at Clay there was this JTKM lad who was so unbelievably fast in a fairly tatty kart. I asked Ian Rennison who he was as he was so much faster than us. The reply was that he had just won the Junior TKM Super 1 championship. His name, Gary Paffit. After that I always resolved that if he could be so quick that we should aim to get there too. Every dog has its day. Some days are better than others. Trust the scrutineers.
