From experience in Formula Blue where restrictor use is standard, if the restrictor has been sized correctly, it won't make any noticeable difference.

Although theoretically you may benefit from more power, you also have extra mass that has to be stopped, and that swallows up any benefits that were gained.

I have always suspected the 1KG=1 tenth rule, because it doesn't seem provable. One can lose a kilo in a race (fuel and sweat) but one isn't necessarily going 1 tenth faster on the last lap. Perhaps it's measurable in an F1 car, where one can compensate for the other variables such as tyre wear and pressures and turn in laps consistent to a thousandth of a second, but in a kart where the aerodynamic drag of the driver is probably the biggest problem?
