I believe that a normal payment for a marshall is in the region of Ł20-Ł30 - an MSA offical Ł30-Ł50 subject to track etc.

So you arrive somewhere at 9am leave 5pm assuming no protests etc. Usually get 15-20 mins for lunch if lucky, can often be that lunch is removed and done on a rotation pattern so that the racers get to race.

So 8 hours for Ł50 = Ł6.25 per hour - you then have the cost of getting there, the cost of your own high viz etc adn all the abuse. As an MSA offical you have to attend x number of meetings to keep your licence and x number of seminars per year.

You work that out for a marshall on Ł30 = Ł3.75 per hour. Not exactly what I would call a pay is it.
