For the ARKS test the helmet will not be a problem as it will take place on a practice day and the rules are not as strict.
If your son is going to be racing in cadets in 2011 then it looks as if you will need one of the new child helmets - hopefully the MSA will make an official announcement soon.
When you do the ARKS test ask about the helmet. If they do not know the answer then they should be able to find someone who can help.
