Caustic soda works well but it will burn you if you get it on your skin and if you get it in your eyes.... no more racing.

I have used caustic soda a few times and it works well but it does tend to come off in flakey carbon bits which can be difficult to remove. The exhaust always sounded better though after I had done it. You would have to do a back to back test to see if it makes much of a difference though.
