Worth mentioning that the floor or at least the pads must be perfectly level.

I haven't done this for a while, but if I remember even 1mm made a massive difference in the weight reading/transfer especially across the diagonal. Think of it like levelling a fridge with the little threaded foot. If the fridge rocks at all, then virtually all the weight is registering on just two corners, but only a tiny turn of the screw changes this.

I resorted to using cardboard as shims, before getting fed up, cut out the middle man and just had a beer. lol.
