It sounds like you are worried that you might be out of your depth when you start 2 stroke racing. If this is the case then you need not worry about anything, most karters have started karting with no experience of any racing what so ever and they have the usual spins and crashes but it's all part of the learning curve.

One thing that will surprise you is just how fast everyone is, even that one on the back of the grid who looks like he/she isn't going fast will seem like they are a relation of Lewis Hamilton's when you are trying to catch them.

The sooner you start racing the better because you will then be racing against drivers who are much more advanced than who you might be racing now and because of this you will learn faster and get on the ultimate pace quicker.

Lol, I remember the first time I went out on track in a TKM, I couldn't believe it was allowed to be legal, lol it felt like I was driving a rocket and the power, wow just seemed to go on forever, I was laughing my head off.

Your indoor driving will help you but outdoor 2 stroke is a hell of a lot different.

Make sure you have a relatively fresh set of tyres as I started with some that were about 5 years old and it didn't do me any favours what so ever because I was so far off the pace I couldn't learn anything.
