Andy,
probably the easiest way is to get yourself an 'EasiBleed' or something similar - your local Halfords/Car Accessory dealer should have one. These devices have the pipe and jar and you can generally bleed your brakes on your own with one of these and they come with instructions on how to use them.
An alternative is to get the reservoir as high as possible and the calipers as low as possible, fill the reservoir with fluid then just open up the bleed nipple(s) fully and allow the fluid to flow through using gravity; once it is through and not showing any air bubbles, bleed the system thoroughly by locking the nipple, pumping and releasing the nipple like you would a car.
I have actually had to tilt the master cylinder in different directions to release all the air bubbles in our system!!!
