The new CMR helmets are only compulsory for Bambinos from 01.01.10 and cadets from 01.01.11 so as your son has moved to juniors he will not have to use a CMR helmet unless he will be under 15 on 01.01.13.
However, if he needs a new helmet anyway then it could be worth checking his head size and reading the reasons for developing the CMR helmets. You may thenm decide that it is worth buying a CMR rather than a Snell 2005.
otherwise he can use the Snall 2005 helmets at least until 2015.
