0.5 metres isn't good enough accuracy. Walk out on a track and put a tape measure down to 0.5 metres. That can be the difference between crashing or not. I've been using it in a team of 7 drivers at international level comparing all their lines. Occasionally it is massively inaccurate, speeds can be terrible. We've had occasions where the GPS said an engine was quicker at the end of the straight, swapped the GPS and turned out it was the GPS that was quicker. That's not good enough.

As for any measure of vehicle dynamics, it reasonable for measuring slip but it's accuracy for calculating understeer gradient is poor.

The other point on the GPS is it only measure the result of the drivers input, all the other sensors measure the cause.

Formula One teams don't use GPS datalogging so why would we? A reasonable GPS datalogger is Racelogic Vbox but I would guess it is very expensive. The GPS system we used at university was £20k.

Its an ok system and most karters will find it a very cost effective solution. But baldyheadgreg has used them before so would be better suited to an ebox with sensors, especially if he wants to compare drivers.
