I am a petrol pump engineer by trade

all petrol sold in the uk has a max of 5% bio ethanol in it.
if it has more than 5% then it must by law be marked as such i.e E85 E10 E30 the E stands for ethanol and the number is the percentage.

derv is the same normal derv has 5% bio content and if it more it will be marked as B30 B50 B80 etc again the B stands for biodeisel and the number is the percentage.

so whether you buy tesco sainsbury BP esso shell they will all contain up to 5%

supermarket fuel is of the same standard as any other fuel sold in the UK and usualy have the most modern equipement on them compared to the major petrol companies.

as for your fuel line going soft this is a symptom of the incorrect material being used
