Shanny raises a good point. Unless you want to start the kart in gear, you CANNOT use the sprocket nut to start it, because this is not directly linked to the crank like a 100cc kart, but goes through the gearbox.
If you mean the crank nut that the stator (ignition) is attached to then yes you can use that, and most kart starter motors should work (i've seen a TKM starter being used on a 210 villiers)

Any way of starting a 250 safely will really involve 2 people, unless you fit an electric starter.
