Agree with you 100% Simon.

Limiting choice isn't going to increase numbers in karting, it's far more likely to drive people out.

Karting has become commercialised and the entry point for any MSA class has become increasingly expensive. The cost is probably the biggest barrier for most people who would otherwise be interested in taking up the sport.

I'd don't profess to know the answers to help improve and grow karting as a sport, but to think that limiting then number of classes will solve all the problems is extremely simplistic! It seems to me that the initial focus should be on bringing down some of the barriers to entry into the sport, even if that meant introducing yet another class!
