We have had one or two and tried several of what some of this forum users would describe as 'cheapo' brake systems. All I will say is that IMHO, every one of them has been better than the standard Tony brake in terms of 'feel' which I think is like putting your foot on a brick.
We currently run an MX brake which is a Kelgate replica and find it works extremely well for us. I am unsure it has given huge benefits in terms of lap times but it certainly has given a lot more confidence and control. Pads are around a quarter to a fifth of the cost of Tony pads and last about five times longer.
This is just my humble opinion and my observations...
