Robbie, it may be possible but are you sure that you would end up with something better?
Any new organisation would have to set up rules and regulations and I doubt if they would please everyone.
You mention the organisation being run by karters for karters but who/what are `karters' and would you get agreement on rules etc. Is it just the drivers or would you include officials, clubs, teams, traders and so on in the rule makers?
If you look at some of the topics where the MSA are criticised it is where a change is made that does not suit everyone but they are not all MSA decisions.
The new Intermediate Class had people on the forum saying the MSA had `lost it' as we have too many classes now. Look deeper and you find that the proposal came from the ABKC so reaslly we should attend the AGM of our club(s) and vote to have this class removed. The clubs should then vote for this at the ABKC meeting and they could go to the MSA and say `forget that proposal, the karters don't want it' - if you have ever had a bird deposit on you from on high then you will be glad that pigs are unlikely to fly.
Change of age limits - if your birthday is 1sr January then you will not be able to race in jumiors until you are 12. If you were born one day earlier you get to race for almost a year whilst still aged 11. Obviously a stupid regulation but how do you word it in a way that is absolutely fair to everyone and can not be challenged? On this forum we have parents saying their child is big and strong enough to race juniors and so the minimum age should be waived for them whilst another says their child is too small at 13 and wants the maximum age for cadets waived.
How would you feel about the existing rule for some junior classes, where the minimum age is 11th birthday, if your lad was 11 the day after the first round of a national championship that you wanted to enter?
Instead of setting up a new association it would be good to get people to use the existing club membership to make their views known. We can but dream.
