Hi Greg I was in the same boat as you around two to three months ago. For the rest of this message I'm going to copy/paste my testomony/email of thank's that I sent to Michael and Alex Gatton of Kart Coach which subsequently has been posted on the karting.co.uk web site main page by kart coach as an advert if you go to the main page (and scroll down a little you'll see) It's been the best £160 I've spent in karting so far. My only regret is that I diddnt have the ball's to phone them 6 months ago!......

"After more than three months as both mechanic and coach to my eight year old son Gabriel, my frustration was growing. Having read the books on driving lines and chassis set up, with little if any degree of understanding and making changes to the kart with the well-intended, but all too often miss guided advice of other Cadet dads with some disastrous results, I had to finally admit defeat. That's when I made the call to Kart Coach. Shenington 14th August: Turning up at the track and the Kart Coach awning at 8am felt like it was my first day at school, but after ten minutes I felt at home. Team manager Michael quickly evaluated my kit, the good the bad and the ugly! Steering column bent in three different places, bent rack rods and oval wheel rims were soon diagnosed and quickly rectified. Meanwhile top coach Alex was already building up Gabe's confidence and race craft skills."

"I remember Gabe's first practice session, nervously getting into his kart for the first time, out on an unfamiliar track, a step into the unknown. This was in stark contrast to his final sessions, where he was oozing confidence and itching to get into his kart coming in ahead of some of the regular drivers. With Kart Coach's help I felt much more confident in making changes to the chassis, albeit after one weekend. I do realise we have only made a few small steps on a marathon journey, but I know without doubt these steps are in the right direction. I will say that coaching, as with any other sport, is an essential element for success. With the help of kart Coach I feel that our development and confidence will only going to grow and grow."

"Seven days later we went to Tockwith, our local track, where our previous best lap after three months was 45.20s. We confidently made some changes to the kart and I reminded Gabriel to put into practice everything that Alex had told him, particularly corner entry and exit speed. Twenty minutes later something special happened, something I'd been anticipating for three months: Eight laps in the 44's, Gabe's new fastest lap - 44.53s almost 7/10ths quicker than our previous best! Thank you Kart Coach, see you in September." - Craig and Gabriel Buckley.

It's now 43.57..
Greg do your lad a favor and give them a call. I travel from Halifax to Shenington every month and I feel it's more that worth it, and they also coach at Whilton Mill.
