does anybody who remembers karting 10, 20, 30 years ago ever think about the way the sport has developed ? some ways for better and lots of ways for the worse...

why it has gone the way it has , have we been led this way by the big boys for financial reasons at the detriment of the sport...

or is everyone ok about the way karting has gone.
the big question is why are the numbers down ? what has changed so much that is putting people off?

is it the cost ? well is it that much more expensive now than ever before, maybe.

is it the lack of classes, sealed and fiched engines ?

karting was at its most successfull, exciting and well supported when it was a much simpler sport.. which shouldnt be the case when we now have safer circuits, tighter regulations, extremley reliable engines requiring little if any preperation..

my opinion well: i think that schools karting used to bring a huge number through into rac/msa karting and natska and its affiliates have seen a huge decline, this has to have an effect, of course economics and the credit crunch will play a part and i think the lack of a true clubman class is huge i dont know why circuits arnt all putting on an open 100cc club class with open engines, fixed gearing and small carbs with a long life tyre ...

anyway im sure any thoughts would make interesting reading... thanks for taking the time to read.
