This test doesn't accurately portray the effect of an axle on handling of a kart chassis. You need to measure the rate of deformation with applied load. Effectively what you are looking at is a spring based on beam bending and they don't obey Hooke's Law. Then you have to take into account a number of other deformation mechanisms, one of which is impurities in the metal. And at a guess this is the one that effects the handling but metallurgy and material science is not my field.
