We ran comer last year then swapped to honda at the end of the year and have never looked back. We are much more chilled out on race days and enjoy our racing now.
We had so many no finishes in comer because of carbs going down or engine problems. I can safely say since going to honda we have finished every race that we have started.
The one thing you do have to put up with is the stigma that you are now racing a 4 stroke but we have noticed such an improvement in our boys driving since swapping to honda its worth it.
Chassis wise Project 1 would be the way to go and if you phone Gerrard at project 1 he can arrange a test day for you at Bayford meadows where they have there workshop. You will find the guys down there very friendly and helpfull and they will allways offer phone support if you need help with set up.
As with all engines there is difference's between them, we were racing on an average engine engine agaisnt a couple that we know were sp engines and were bang on there lap times all day.
Not sure at the moment on re builds, we just had our engine looked at because we didnt know the history and it was way cheaper than a comer rebuild. One thing for sure we dont worry about the hours clocking up on the engine anymore. The more hours you put on them they get better. If you want to speak to somebody about engines Jeff Johnson at pro kart engineering can tell you everything you need to know.

Jets are changeable but there are only 4 jets and 2 emulsion tubes allowed. We have used 1 jet in the cold and 1 in the warm.
We are not experts but can safely say we enjoy our racing now.
