1hr battery time doesnt sound too good

a wireless cam is the best solution as if the cam goes a-walking then you still have the footage recorded on your laptop (hopefully locked up)

its good practice to mark/stamp all tools. im sure people dont intentionally forget who they borrowed stuff off :)
