Hi All, looking for pointers please?
Firstly, a brief precis to give you the picture of how we are running:
Senior Max on a Tony EVXX chassis, no torsion bars front or rear, centre axle bearing loose, bumper loose (ish), one seat stay on left hand side, battery mounted to left of driver, driver is 6' 1" tall and approx. 75kg, seat as low as will allow and seat fitted by Strawberry so position should be OK. Medium axle height, rear axle width 138.5cm on YGB tyres.
We are quite evenly matched with the top runners at our club and therefore feel we are on the pace.

So, last meeting, we found we were nearly 10kg overweight after the final (according to the scales) so we took the one piece of lead off that weighs about 2.5kg and was mounted on the chassis just behind the petrol tank in front of the seat.
Went practising at our club without the lead and no matter what we did, we were over a scond slower than last time out and just could not get the time back.

We put the lead back on in exactly the same place and in just 1 lap, went as fast as he's ever gone round there.
Why???

Surely by losing weight, we should have been quicker?
Is it weight distribution?
Is the extra weight giving us more grip?
We even tried filling the tank up to compensate for the lead but no, it was the lead that made the difference.
Incidentally, with the tank full or nearly empty did not seem to make any difference at all once the lead was back on.
In addition, we knew the scales were wrong but they now appear to be working OK and it looks like we are about 7 Kilos overweight which obviously I would like to lose at least 5k's of but I can't see how without losing time!

As usual, your answers and sharing your experiences would be greatly appreciated.
