I'm a touch confused because back in 2001 the CIK (for cik events) manadated minimum 2mm wall thickness and guys were getting thrown out for it. That might even still be true in the Max Euro Challenge.

However I was always under the impression that teams ran a thicker wall at the end that were measured and not the rest of the axle. The only way I can think is random measurements along the length of axle using ultrasonics, how expensive they are i don't know.
