ohms law
v=ir

the resistance to start will be big so the current will be small and as

power = iv

power = i^2.r

the heating effect will be small

as you turn over the resistance drops down and the current flies up. as power is proportional to the current squared the heating effect is obviously showing itself.

thats a nice fuse you have designed tho
