Shenington (like many other clubs0 run a mixed grid of cadets but with tropies for each class of cadets based on the number of entries - usually 1 trophy for every 5 drivers).
There are normally enough entrants for there to be 5 or 6 trophies for the top placed comer drivers and then 1 or 2 trophies for honda drivers (not sure if they get many wtps). I am not 100% sure with Shenington but I know other clubs where the trophies have a plaque showing `winner comer cadet' 2nd comer cadet' etc.
There is no 2nd place trophy as such or even a winner trophy - just winner comer cadet and winner honda cadet.
At Shenington I have seen a honda driver presented with the `winner honda' trophy when they finished about 13th in the B final.
I really do not see why this should be an issue when the club has run this system for several years now - obviously if enough members wish to change the system they can put a proposal at the agm.
How many honda drivers and their dads/mums have refused to accept the winner trophy when they have finished outside of the top 5? can't have it both ways.
