Firstly from time qual position thereafter they start each heat and final from last finishing position achieved in previous race. This system generally ensures all the quicker drivers are at or near the front of the pack, however if the driver has a DNF's the driver driver will have start the next race from the back. It's not great if you're racing at the front and then incurred an DNF in heat (3)of the meeting. This often often finishes the chances of the driver gaining a top three finish!! Nearly forgot to mension black flags, technical exclusions also means the driver starting the next race from the back of the next race!!
